In the United Kingdom, pub pool tables are typically 7-feet in length. This is the main size table found in pubs and clubs with adequate space. The smaller 6-foot tables are mainly used in locations with restricted cueing rooms.
7ft UK Pool Tables
The standard dimensions of a 7-foot pub pool table are 7 feet (213.36 cm) in length and 4 feet (121.92 cm) in width. The height of the table is usually between 80 and 83 cm (depending on leg level height) from the ground to the top frame, allowing players to stand and play the game comfortably. These dimensions are the outer frame measurements, not the playing area.
The smaller 6ft pool table is ideal for small to medium-sized pubs, bars, and game rooms where space is limited but players still want a high-quality playing experience. It's also a popular size for home game rooms and recreational areas. The 6ft models are 6ft (182.88cm) in length and 3'6-3'8 (109.73 / 115.82cm) in width, depending on the model. Again, the height of the table will be between 80 and 83cm from floor to top frame.
A UK 6ft pool table's playing surface area is approximately 5.2ft (160cm) in length and 2.7ft (82cm) in width.
Both 6ft tables and 7ft tables are official league-size models. Around 70% of UK pub and club tables are 7ft in size, with the remaining 30% being 6ft.
Although 6ft and 7ft tables are different sizes, they use identical balls. Both models are played using the 2-inch pool ball, and both size tables have identical pocket openings.
